Couples Therapy
In couples counselling I work with the clients as a unit (couple) as well as individuals. Both partners are viewed as my clients and both partners’ views are respected and taken into consideration. Principles of Imago relationship therapy along with other therapeutic approaches are used to assist couples to grow together and solve their relational difficulties.
Family Therapy
We all impact and are impacted by each other. In family therapy, I work with the family as a unit to reveal and understand these impacts. Patterns of behaviour and communication that no longer serve the family are addressed and the family is guided to new ways of relating to each other that support the mental health of the whole family.
Children & Adolescent Therapy
I have a special interest in working with children and adolescents and understand their mental health needs from a clinical perspective.
My therapeutic approach is adjusted to suit the age and maturity level of the children I work with and may include play therapy, attachment based therapy, art therapy, narrative therapy or other modalities of talk therapy. I also work closely with the parents to guide them in better understanding their children’s behaviour and needs. This in turn allows parents to better support their children’s mental health and emotional development. Areas of focus include:
- Behavioural difficulties
- Sleep difficulties
- ADHD
- Sibling Rivalry
- Difficulty relating to peers
- Anxiety
- Depression
- OCD
- Autism
- Eating disorders
- Low self-esteem
- Parent-child relational problems
